For immediate release

Takoma Park, MD, Jan. 1, 2015–The new nonprofit Let’s Play America will kick off a “playful” new year with a free pool party in Takoma Park from 2-4pm on Saturday, Jan. 3.

This event – the first organized by Let’s Play America since its incorporation as a nonprofit this fall – is being organized in conjunction with the Let’s Play Takoma.

“We want to see children and adults have more fun this year,” said Pat Rumbaugh, founder of Let’s Play America and Let’s Play Takoma. “Play is so important for our health and happiness. We hope that this party will give people of all ages a chance to start the New Year playing.”

The Splash & Play Pool Party will be at the indoor pool at Piney Branch Elementary School, 7610 Maple Avenue, in Takoma Park.  Free recreational swim and water aerobics will be offered.

Let’s Play Takoma and Let’s Play America work to build communities where the young and old can safely enjoy outdoor and indoor play as a regular part of their lives. Such play has been shown to increase physical health, mental health and a sense of well-being, as well as forge stronger ties between diverse community members.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend the Splash & Play Pool Party.
